Prematurity Program Research at OSU

The Prematurity Program research is ongoing and ever expanding.  A comprehensive IRB approved clinical database of about 200 patients per year is maintained.  NIH and industry sponsored studies are often available.  Some of the current research and analysis includes:

  • The Vaginal Ultrasound Cerclage Trial
  • Racial and ethnic disparities in preterm birth
  • Stress, Health , and the Pregnancy Experience
  • Effects of 17 alpha hydroxyprogesterone caproate on cervical length
  • Cervical measurement with the disposable CERVILENZ measuring device vs endovaginal sonography
  • Three dimensional quantitative sonographic imaging defining cervical strength in quantitative biomechanical terms using engineering software and ultrasound technology
  • Identification of potential associations between disorders of collagen and cervical function that may result in preterm birth
  • Examining the effect of 17 alphahhydroxyprogesterone caproate on 1 hour glucola screening and 3 the hour glucose tolerance test
