North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet)
Ohio State University Fetal Treatment is a founding member of the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNET). This is a voluntary association of 20 medical centers in the United States and Canada with established expertise in fetal surgery and other forms of multidisciplinary care for complex disorders of the fetus. Dr. O'Shaughnessy is a member of the Steering Committee.
This network is most active in collaborative research. NAFTNet trials open for enrollment at this time including;
- Oxidative Stress in Fetuses with Severe Anemia, which investigates if there is an association between the level of anemia in a fetus from maternal antibodies and levels of oxidative stress.
- Lower Urinary Tract Obstruction Observational Study, which aims to learn which fetuses might benefit from treatment with shunts during pregnancy.
- Prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis by array-based copy number analysis
- Twin-Twin Transfusion Predictive Markers, which aims to learn if corticotrophin releasing hormone or urocortin levels in amniotic fluid or blood can predict the severity of the disease.
- Outcomes of Pregnancies Treated with Radiofrequency Ablation
- TTTS Pregnancies after laser therapy: Prediction of Fetal/Neonatal Death
- Determination of the accuracy of free fetal DNA in maternal plasma in the assessment of the fetal RhD blood type
- Role of LHR, MRI, and Fetal Echocardiography in Predicting Outcome in Prenatally Diagnosed Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia
