Teaching
Division faculty provide daily coverage of the Labor and Delivery and Antepartum units for both normal and high risk patients at University Hospitals, making daily labor and delivery and antepartum rounds with residents, fourth year elective students, and third year medical students. Twice daily board checkout on Labor and Delivery is an important part of the teaching program. Elective students and residents from other medical schools and hospitals rotate on University Medical Center's antepartum Service.
Four weekly teaching conferences are held.
There are five specialty clinics at OSU providing our faculty and fellows regular opportunities for student and resident teaching.
The faculty also instructs residents and third year medical students from OSU in the clinical obstetric services at Mount Carmel Medical Center through the combined residency program.
Division faculty are active participants in the Department's annual fall postgraduate review course and in Division-sponsored conferences. Division faculty lecture to third year OSU medical students, locally in our perinatal region and throughout the United States.
Some of the region's most experienced perinatal sonographers work with residents and fellows to teach obstetric sonography techniques.
