
Dr. Ritu Salani is a gynecologic oncologist with expertise in the full range of women's cancer care services, including minimally invasive surgical techniques, radical pelvic and abdominal surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. She believes strongly in taking a holistic approach to patient care, creating a partnership between the patient, her family, the physician, and the extended care services delivery personnel throughout the process of decision-making, treatment, and recovery. Her research interests include surgery for advanced ovarian cancer, healthcare quality and outcomes analysis, and optimizing health care services delivery.
As a national and international leader in gynecologic research, physician-scientists at The James Cancer Hospital have taken a leading role in designing, monitoring, and publishing research work of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, an international clinical research organization. Dr. Salani is an active member of this group.
Dr. Salani received her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) in Rootstown, Ohio. She completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland.
