Dr. Fowler is the director of the gynecologic oncology program at The James.  He has extensive expertise in the latest surgical techniques including radical pelvic surgery, pelvic reconstruction and minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and robotic surgery.  Dr. Fowler has taught these techniques to other surgeons locally, nationally and internationally.   As director of the JamesCare for Life program, he also focuses on patient support, education and symptoms relief for patients at The James.

Dr. Fowler has been recognized nationally and internationally for his clinical research skills and has been selected for inclusion in the book, America’s Top Doctors.  As a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s guidelines panels on ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancers, Dr. Fowler helps establish standards of care in the treatment of these diseases.

As a national and international leader in gynecologic research, physician-scientists at The James Cancer Hospital have taken a leading role in designing, monitoring and publishing research work of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, an international clinical research organization.  Dr. Fowler is an active member of this group.

Dr. Fowler received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1985.  He completed his residency at The Ohio State University in 1989, and his fellowship at UCLA in 1991.
