The Laboratory of Perinatal Research (LPR) was established in 1988 to serve as the basic science branch for research initiatives within the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at The Ohio State University (OSU). For the past 20 years, the LPR has been a vital component of MFM fellowship training, helping to distinguish it from other programs in the region. As a unique platform for clinically-oriented research, the laboratory maintains resources committed to support independent research interests of MFM faculty and clinical fellows. In addition, the LPR functions locally as a central specimen-processing center for multicenter trials, such as those sponsored by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Disease [NICHD] Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units network. The laboratory is currently supported by funding from both intramural and extramural sources.
