The mission of the division
• To conduct basic and clinical cancer research that leads to the development of effective immune-based cancer therapies and diagnostic tests.
• To foster an environment conducive to high quality research. • To teach the next generation of translational researchers. • To communicate and share the research that we are conducting with others. • To promote synergy by enlisting the talents and resources of others who share our vision of improving cancer care. • To continue a strong interdisciplinary research program in vaccine development and protein engineering; • To develop new useful therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune diseases, and viral infections; • to establish a superior educational program for graduate students and undergraduate students seeking elective experience in research; • to establish links with the pharmaceutical industry through license agreements from the patents held by division faculty to provide research funds for new development and a royalty stream to the University, College, and Department for both research and education;
